His father, P.D. Rakestraw, said Nate Rakestraw will not transfer to a Division II or NAIA school. If he were to pursue that option, the former UA freshman would be allowed to play immediately on a basketball squad.

All intentions, P.D. said, are for his son to go to a Division I school. South Florida, where former UA coach Stan Heath now coaches, may be an option. Heath recruited Nate Rakestraw out of high school while he was the head man at the Fayetteville campus.

“We’ve got some options,” P.D. Rakestraw said. “But nothing for sure right now. We’ve contacted Missouri, Oklahoma. I’m going to call Stan Heath tonight at South Florida. ORU is interested. Missouri State. We’ve got some options out there.”

  1. thank goodness…i love home grown boys as much as anyone but this guy didnt have it and i was gonna feel terrible watchin him on that long bench. I’m just glad we freed up another scholarship for next year so we can space these guys out. PS Take Patsatsia with you!!!

  2. I just got a text from a guy in local media in Fayetteville saying that Patsatsia is leaving too.

  3. It’s critically important that PEL get his own recruits for his style of play, and in this regard, the incoming class looks extremely impressive.

More for the sake of the team may be less playing time for the individual - especially given the full court pressure the Razorbacks are trying to implement.

Good luck to Rakestraw and any other kid deciding to move on. However, in two to three years, with his own guys on the court, the Razorbacks will very much be back on the national scene. GO HOGS!

  4. Kid looks like he’s wearing his dad’s suit in that picture.
Good luck to the young man, and Patsatsia also.
Now keep bringing them studs in, Coach Pelfrey.
