UK-UGA game postponed
High winds of a tornado struck downtown Atlanta between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. Friday night.
The winds damaged the Omni Hotel, Phillips Arena, CNN Building, Westin Hotel, the Georgia Congress Center and the Georgia Dome, where the Southeastern Conference Basketball Tournament is being held, among other downtown structures.
No fatalities have been reported but nine injuries have been.
Ten-thousand people in Atlanta are without power.
An Atlanta firefighter said, ” all of downtown Atlanta is a mess,” according to a report on Atlanta’s CBS affiliate.
After a one hour and 4 minute weather delay, Mississippi State defeated Alabama, 69-67, in overtime, but the SEC opted to postpone the final quarterfinal game between Kentucky and Georgia.
