Hogs in Little Rock for NCAA Tourney?
This piece of news just baffles me. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament’s West Region as a No. 10 seed playing Southern Cal in Little Rock.
That’s right. Little Rock.
I’ve got no clue why the selection committee would put Arkansas in Little Rock, especially for a team that is most likely going to squeak into the Big Dance. There’s no reason to put No. 7 seed USC at a disadvantage against a lower-seeded opponent. Maybe it’s an oversight by Lunardi. Maybe it’s not.
The ESPN bracketologist is obviously better at picking tournament brackets than me or you, so who are we to question his selections? I’m sure Hog fans love him right now.
It’s also worth mentioning that Kentucky, Texas and Memphis would also be at the Little Rock site, according to Lunardi. Talk about a tough ticket.
Arkansas’ wavering chances to make the Big Dance also seem to be solidifying. As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, 52 out of 52 experts sampled by The Bracket Project have the Hogs in the Big Dance.
The Bracket Project, which I cited in an article Monday, is a great Web site to check out all the experts’ picks without Googling your mind numb for, “that one guy with Fox Sports who projects the NCAA Tournament.”
See you in Little Rock … maybe.
