A couple of observations, keys to game

We’re getting ready to tipoff here in Bud Walton Arena. Just a couple of observations before we go live here:

  • Bud Walton Arena is fairly empty for an SEC game. You can probably blame the attendance tonight on the bad weather moving into Fayetteville tonight. The area is under a Winter Storm Watch.
  • LSU center Chris Johnson has been tearing it up recently, but that has also proven to be the Tigers’ weakness as well. The 6-11 big man averages 11.6 points per game and returned to the Tigers’ lineup against Tennessee Feb. 9 after a broken right hand. He scored 17 points against the Vols and 19 against the Florida Gators. The Vols game, as you remember, was a close loss and the Florida game was a huge double-digit upset on the road.

Against Kentucky Saturday, however, the center had just four points in LSU’s 57-53 loss at home.

So, contain Johnson and the Hogs have a shot. He goes wild in the paint, it could be a long night for the Hog faithful.

Another fun stat in the SEC: LSU is 0-5 at home and 2-3 on the road.
