Diamond Hogs picked third in SEC West

As you try and digest the drumming Arkansas received at the hands of No. 4 Tennessee (hey, they were in it in the first half), here’s a little baseball pick-me-up.

SEC BaseballArkansas was picked to finish third in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference in baseball this season by the conference’s coaches. Not bad, actually, considering the heavy personnel losses the Hogs will have to bounce back from. The Diamond Hogs also received two first-place votes in the coaches’ selections.

Vanderbilt was picked to win the conference with five points. Ole Miss, which was picked to win the West, had four points to win the overall crown.

By the way, what has happened to LSU? Ever since that sweep Arkansas had over the Bayou Bengals a few years back, they haven’t been the same. Gone are the College World Series trips and SEC championships. Now, they’re picked to be an SEC cellar-dweller after doing the same last season.

Baffling.

The Diamond Hogs open the season Feb. 22 with a three-game series at Baum Stadium against Wright State. They then open the SEC slate against Georgia in Baum Stadium on March 14.
