Power at Forward
Who starts at power forward Saturday against Ole Miss may be a game-time decision for the Razorbacks.
For the bulk of the season, 6-8 senior Charles Thomas has occupied that role quite well, but after receiving a one-game suspension against Mississippi State for breaking an undisclosed team rule, Michael Washington has stepped into the starting spot and the 6-10 sophomore from McGehee has handled the role well, giving Coach John Pelphrey options.
“I don’t have a dog house,” Pelphrey said Thursday. “Every day is a new day. Charles could start, but Michael has played well. I want to see more of practice. I’ll probably decide the day of the game.”
Vincent Hunter gives the Razorbacks another option at the No. 4 spot. The 6-10 Hunter can shoot with range, add some energy on the floor as well as help as a press breaker.
“I’m very fortunate to have the chance to coach a guy like Vincent Hunter,” Pelphrey said. “He understands what’s going on and he knows what value I find in him.”
