Townes arrested Sunday
Darian Townes is not having a good weekend.![]()
The Arkansas center was arrested by Fayetteville police Sunday night in connection with misdemeanor failure to appear, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Web site.
Townes was released from jail on $530 bond at 10:01 p.m. Sunday. He’s scheduled to appear Feb. 25 in Fayetteville District Court.
The 6-foot-10 center scored 8 points in Arkansas’ 82-69 blowout loss Saturday night at Georgia. The Hogs have lost two straight in the Southeastern Conference and will travel to Baton Rouge, La., on Saturday to take on LSU at 8 p.m. on ESPN Classic.
UPDATE: Arkansas head coach John Pelphrey said Monday he expects Townes to play against LSU on Saturday. No disciplinary action, Pelphrey said, is expected to be enforced.
