Cheating. Scandal. Voter fraud. Eyeliner.
University of Arkansas cheerleader Laura Cole has dominated the opposition in CBSsports.com’s College Cheerleader of the Week playoffs the last three weeks. She’s done so fairly with the help of fan votes, beating the beauties of Colorado and Virginia Tech to advance to this week’s National Championship.
However, after CBSsports.com caught wind of Houston and Arkansas fans voting multiple times with the help of poll scripts and clearing cookies in their browsers, No. 1 seed Ms. Cole has to start from square one in the National Championship.
The “keep the stapler over the Enter button” and “custom poll script” tricks won’t work any more. Nice try, though. I’m sure our two finalists appreciate all your efforts.
Cole had garnered 37 percent of the vote and was falling heavily to No. 7 Houston on Thursday. Voting numbers were cleared by CBS and the opportunity to vote resumed late Thursday.
The Rogers native will need some help, though. The former Miss Teen Arkansas runner-up doesn’t have a grassroots movement on Facebook or appearances on local radio stations like her counterpart to propel her in the finals matchup.
