Missouri increases lead
Jeff Wolfert connected on a 32-yard field goal attempt, four plays after Jerell Norton muffed a punt that Missouri’s Connell Davis recovered at the 11.
Missouri leads 31-7 with 10:25 left in the game. A significant chunk of the Arkansas fans have already departed.

Peeuuuw!! Man that was the most pathetic display of college football I’ve ever seen!! Missouri out coached, out classed and showed far more effort and heart than Arkansas as I’ve ever seen in any football game I’ve ever seen!! I’ve witnessed far better performances at the high school level in the state of Ohio this year than what was put on display by the Hogs today in Dallas!! Unfortunately given the state of Razorback football this year it’s probably fitting. What a bad day in U of A sports history!
Wherever Mitch Mustain is I’ll bet he he is laughing his head off at his friend Casey Dick. Is Casey stinking up the game or what? I will admit its not all his fault, he has thrown several good passes that were dropped, but I’ll also say that Bobby Petrino is saying to himself that Casey will not be the qb next year. The coaching staff called a game that made my eyes bleed. Calling timeout before a successful fake punt, honest mistake, but to call the same play again? STUPID. Absolutely the WORST football game I have EVER seen.
After Houston left, the rest of the staff should have been released too. They did nothing to prepare this team for the game. What a waste of time and money for Razorback fans who traveled to Dallas. If we can’t put the best product on the field, then stay home. Embarrasing to be a Razorback fan today, but what else is new. In my 43 years of life we haven’t done much execpt Nolan’s one team and a few track championships.
Traditional razorback “how can I loose with embarrassment” effort. This was a poor game plan and no player focus. Typical muff after muff. Lee, Herring, and the players get an “F+” for this game strategy and plan.
I personally want to thank Houston Nutt for hiring his staff away from Arkansas, minus Tim Horton and Bobby Allen. We may only win one conference game next year, i promise you it will be against Ole Miss, and if Reggie Herring really is going to Texas A&M we shouldn’t have any trouble against their defense either.
Thanks to Sly Croom For letting the cat out of the bag to early. All we needed was one more distraction. Hey! Sly you already won your bowl game, so what do you care about us, toss a conference rival under the bus, why don’t ya.
I think the coaches had Oxford on there minds. Finding a new place to live, schools for there kids, a new church, etc.. Professionals, ya right, we got jobbed. I thought this was a bad idea from the jump, but the alternative was worse.
Does anybody think Petrino, if he is what is cracked up to be, could have put together a staff on short notice, and done a better job than the present staff?
Petrino had to be pulling his hair out watching this game.
The players that were coming back were to busy trying to look good for their new coach. I don’t think some of them helped there case very much.
I almost considered going to the Cotton Bowl this year, by myself, i couldn’t afford to take my wife and to kids, as much as i would like too. I have some family that lives in Ft. Worth, so i could crash on their couch. Shesh !!!! that was almost a close one. I am sure glad that i didn’t lay out the cash, and put forth the effort to drive down their to see that mess, sitting in my living room was painful enough.
Way to talk a lot of trash before the game and not back it up. I don’t even think i heard Matt Hewitt’s name called during the game. Missouri offense made the Hogs D look they were standing still. Heres a thought next year if we are fortunate enough to make it to a bowl game lets do less yappin’ before the game, and let our play on the field do the talkin’. Good idea? i thought so.
Sorry about the length of my comment, i needed to vent in a bad way.
What a joke, I’m glad these coaches are going to Ole Miss & Tx A&M. Both are on our schedule in the near future, should be an easy win!
I agree this was a bad idea to let them stay and try to coach. And these are the guys that said Gus was a HS coach!!! I don’t see where they did much better….
Hope the door hits them on the back side on the way out of town!!!!
Amen, I didn’t think it would ever end
ua65, Gus was just that - a high school coach whom may have done well in a University environment.. He had brought along some prize young talent that may have helped UofArk, but he and Nutt did not get along. All that mess was strictly between them. Nutt messed it up and Gus and the kids reacted and left.
ua65, you sound proud to have been a Marine - so was my son. Thanks to both of you for your service. Where did you serve, Floyd, and what did you do?
I served time with the Navy (Destroyer Escort, 50MM Cannons), Army (Under-Ground Tunnel Training for Viet Nam) and Air Force (KC97L Air Refueling missions with European jets)- so what?.
I grew up to be an tootball ALL-State Fullback in Arkadelphia, Ar, and was recruited for the ‘63 Arkansas Razorbacks who went on to be National Champs in ‘64. .(I didn’t make my grades and couln’t go - went to Texas and played in the Junior College circuit, there.). I remained a HOG supporter, thoughout.
One thing has become abudantly clear with Nutt as the coach of the Hogs - he did not truly have the HOGS in his heart and soul - he was looking for different things (which came out very clear when he was fired (bought out) and tried to act like he was leaving and doing AR a favor, asking for $3.5M annuity while all-along having a fall-back plan ready at ‘Ol Miss to make more money and self-acclaim. Nutt is for Nutt…
Then Nutt asked for his former assistants to leave AR and go with him to help recruit from Mississipi, before the Bowl was played. This probably has hurt or delayed our recruiting, some. Then, he allowed himself to be used as a pity-party on ESPN whom used his sad, sad story to try and villify the Arkansas football program, New Coach Petrino, the Players, the Ark fans and even warned recruits that they would regret coming to Arkansas and that Petrino might leave at any time.
Stand with Nutt and his Nutts and you get the sorry type of coaching execuses that did all these terrible things to our Hogs and now will try to perform same at ‘Ol Miss. I think that there will be a reckoning there, but not worried about it.
The Interim coaches, whom remained for the bowl game, gave at most, a half-hearted effort for our HOG players (Young men whom need guidance and a spirit which was not supplied by these coaches). These coaches were simply trying to get through the bowl to their greater rewards.
The boys (HOGS) got up the spirit to whip LSU - they COULD DO IT when given a proper plan and preparation.
And, now FLOYD, if that is your real name, and you are/were really a Marine, YOU can stand up tall for the Razorback HOGS and Coach Petrino and be an ARK Fan, or you’re in the way and need to move to the side and let true fans take over supporting the new program which will be GOOD!!
Floyd, we don’t need your criticism, name-calling, and arrogance. Understand? Oo-rah?
What do you say, Marine boy from Jonesboro, Ar? We don’t need anymore bashing ESPN logic….
As asked, I’ve shown myself, now, Floyd - whadda ‘ya say - get on board with us “The Hogs” (or) get the heck out of the way and/or get run over.
There is only one person to thank for the debacle in Dallas and that is HDN. I have thought long and hard about this whole pathetic situation and all fingers point to HDN. For someone who “loved” a program so much, he sure left them high and dry. The honorable thing to have done would have been to stuck around through the bowl game, delivered a win for his players and the program he loved so much and the man (Coach Broyles) who gave him a break and supported him BUT he chose to jump ship and go to another school, not only in the same conference but in the same division. Had he gone to Baylor as he was rumored to, I dare say that the vast majority of UA fans would have supported him. Personally, I hope he doesn’t last for the full term of his contract at Oxford High School.
Hey,’razorback in texas’, I’m not sure what you meant when you decided to speak ill of my military service.
I would never do that to any who has worn the uniform of our country…other than to say that by you own admission you said you ‘trained for viet nam. Well, my friend, I lived it. I am really glad you didn’t have to go.
It was no picnic.
As far as your comments about Houston. I fought for this great nation and you have the right to your opinions and I would fight for you today if someone tried to take that right away from you. I do not, however, have to agree with your opinions. I know now why I never got into this message board stuff.
Its because of being attacked by those who have no idea what the game of football is all about and what it takes to coach it successfully. I would not, by the way, call the place ‘Oxford High School’. The fact that the Ole Miss football tradition far exceeds that of the University of Arkansas is well documented. I will now bow out of this message board fiasco since I no longer care to cast my pearls (superior knowledge of the game) before swine.
