Arkansas on the board

Darren McFadden plunged into the end zone on a fourth-and-goal play. The Razorbacks trail 28-7 with 3:08 left in the third quarter. After Casey Dick threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown the previous possession, the Razorbacks turned to the WildHog formation to move the ball.

  1. this is a pathetic display of of football by the razorbacks- shows the coachning staff has short timers disease! Probably did more work for Ole Miss than the U Of A

  2. Hope there was alot to do in Dallas besides the football game. What a waste of money and time for those who attended.

  3. I tell ya, I’m kicking myself right now. I live in Nevada and should have emptied my savings account and bet it on Missouri. Would have been the easiest beat I ever won.

  4. What a sad showing. I counted three tackles by Arkansas players - on Darren McFadden(!) It wasn’t just Casey (though, honestly, he stunk the place up.. there’s just no other way to view it). Few players appeared motivated. Hard to blame the players however - but what was the School to do once Mr Nutt bailed. We all know he didn’t want to sit through another bowl game against a top opponent knowing that he couldn’t plug all the holes he had on defense and score consistently with his one-stop-shopping offense. Makes for a hard sell getting another job when you lose in the bow game - again - with exactly the same formula that got you beat last year.

Well - maybe hope for the future though next year won’t be much better if Mr Petrino doesn’t have the will to sit Casey down. The young man does not, at least right now, have a D-1 game (offered with respectful to him as a student athlete).

  5. I have to agree with distanthog on one thing. Casey is a junior in Division 1 football. He should be showing more maturity at this point in his collegiate career, but isn’t. He’s unsure of himself, has no confiedence in himself, and honestly plays scrared. He has no field vision when he panics. Most college quarterbacks are past this stage, esp. when they have started as many games as Casey. I have to remember though that we beat LSU in Baton Rouge, and alot of great SEC teams can’t claim that victory.

GO COACH PELPHREY AND THE “HAM SLAMMERS”

  6. I don’t think the blame lies entirely on Casey. You could have Joe Montana back there, but the line still has to give you time. You have to have time to go through the progressions. I may agree with the argument that he is not going through them quickly enough. But, the fact remains, this game was lost in the trenches on both sides of the ball, which was perpetuated by the turnovers.

We got outplayed in the trenches and outcoached on the sideline. We chose to not disguise any of our blitz packages, which Chase Daniels was able to see coming at the 24-second mark of the playclock and call the adjustments on every play. The staff really got outcoached by Chase Daniels as well.

To Missouri’s credit, they showed the ability that I know Petrino adopts…throw when you need to throw; run when you need to run. Missouri displayed the perfect use of their offense, the offense that Petrino brings to the table. In 3 years, this should be the Razorbacks offense and capability defensively, from an athletes standpoint, to move the ball up and down the field and win the battle in the trenches on most plays.

They showed that we are not even close to BCS material b/c of our one-dimensional philosphy, dating throughout the last 20 years. Being able to do the opposite of what the defense gives you offensively IS the game of football.

  7. Hey “distanthog”….how ’bout that one-stop shopping offense in the LSU game…You have a very short memory. There were two problems in the Cotton Bowl…Missouri was a better football team, plain and simple, and Houston Nutt was not there to motivate the Razorback team. Those poor kids were wandering in the wilderness.
