Report: Tuberville agrees to contract extension with Auburn

It may be premature to cross Tommy Tuberville ofd Arkansas’ wish list. But it appears he is very close to staying put at Auburn, according to a report by The Birmingham News that was picked up by ESPN.com.

Tuberville and athletic director Jay Jacobs met Tuesday, paving the way for the issues to be resolved, a source told The News.

However, according to The Huntsville Times’ Web site, Tuberville and Jacobs did not meet Wednesday as expected and, with Tuberville expected to leave town Thursday, it was uncertain when the issues could get resolved. If the issues are settled, the proposed new contract would run through the 2014 season, The Huntsville Times reported. Tuberville’s name had been mentioned prominently in various reports over the past several weeks as a possible successor to Dennis Franchione at Texas A&M, but he indicated last week he planned to remain at Auburn.

  1. Good!

  2. Amen.Tuberville is just a Nutt clone.Same ol plays.Lets get someone who is innovative.Say what you want but Malzaun is still the best offensive mind in college ball today. If we loose him again the Uof A will regret it for yrs to come.Whoever the coach is will have a rough season next yr. because Nutt didnt recruit worth a flip the last 3 yrs.

  3. now i know why gamblersob is so …. malzaun is his daddy.

  4. Good Grief gamblerslob. Let’s hire a coach who’s resume’ boasts head coaching experience at a HIGH SCHOOL, and a year under the protection of a collegiate system at the UofA. That’ll bring the recruits pouring in. Geeeeesh.
