Kiper weighs in on Monk
Mel Kiper used to be like Punxsutawney Phil. He’d pop up at around the same time every year (April) for the NFL Draft and then disappear for another 12 months.
Things have changed recently and now Kiper is a part of ESPN’s college football coverage on both the broadcast and online sides. This week, Kiper weighed in on Arkansas wide receiver Marcus Monk, who is now playing for the Razorbacks after suffering cartilage damage in his right knee during the preseason.
Arkansas improved to 5-3 with a 58-10 thrashing of winless Florida International, and in the process, saw senior WR Marcus Monk contribute for the first time this season. Monk, who sustained a knee injury in August, hauled in a pair of receptions, one of which was a 13-yard touchdown. Monk (6-5, 220) will need to continue to make contributions in the coming weeks as the Razorbacks close out the regular season with challenging games against South Carolina, at Tennessee, Mississippi State and at LSU.
It seems like Kiper is waiting for some more data before determining Monk’s draft status.
