Arkansas blasts FIU 58-10

Arkansas’ last nonconference opponent didn’t give the Razorbacks much of a test. The Hogs defeated FIU 58-10 on Saturday at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The Golden Panthers turned the ball over seven times, as Arkansas extended their losing streak to 20 games. Here are some notes:

Peyton Hillis won the Crip Hall Award, an honor extended to [...]

McFadden makes it four

After Arkansas recovered a fumble at FIU’s 6-yard line, Darren McFadden scored on a two-yard touchdown run. It was McFadden’s fourth rushing touchdown of the day and his 11th of the season. The Razorbacks lead FIU 48-10 with 13:59 left in the fourth quarter.

Jones scores

Felix Jones crossed the goal line for the first time this afternoon. He sprinted 16 yards, following a train of blockers before crashing into the end zone. It was Jones’ eighth touchdown run this season. Arkansas now leads FIU 41-10 with 20 seconds left in the third quarter.

Another interception

Wayne Younger threw hisĀ  third interception of the afternoon. Senior free safety Kevin Woods was the recipient of the errant throw this time. He returned it 19 yards to FIU’s 23-yard line. It was Woods’ first pick of the year.

60,750

That’s the official attendance at Reynolds Razorback Stadium this afternoon. That’s the smallest crowd to attend a game in Fayetteville this year. The previous low was 66,343, who rolled out to see the Hogs crush North Texas 66-7 on Sept. 29.

Dick taken to hospital

Casey Dick was taken to hospital after suffering a concussion on a violent hit in the first half. Dick also reportedly is suffering from sore ribs, caused by the same hit. He finished the game 4-of-6 passing for 36 yards, with one pick and no touchdowns.

Tejada connects

Alex Tejada made a 42-yard field goal with 8:54 left in the third quarter to give the Razorbacks a 34-10 lead with 8:54 left in the third quarter. Tejada has made 13 of 15 field goal attempts this season.

Abed cuts FIU’s deficit

Chris Abed connected on a 35-yard field goal attempt as time expired in the first half. The Razorbacks lead FIU 31-10.

Tough guy QB

I don’t see how FIU QB Wayne Younger is still alive. The Panthers’ leading rusher already has over 100 yards on the ground at the half, and would have more if a long run hadn’t been called back on a penalty.
He’s taken a lot of big shots already in the game, and it’s likely he’s [...]

Monk back in the end zone

It was a long time coming, but Marcus Monk scored his first TD of the season on a 13-yard strike from Nathan Emert with 1:42 left in the first half. Arkansas leads 31-7.
