McFadden still the best

Darren McFadden’s chances to win the Heisman Trophy appear to have fallen by the wayside.

But that doesn’t mean he’s not college football’s best player, according to Rivals.com.

McFadden still garners a lot of respect from the national media even though he has been unable to steer the Razorbacks to a better record through seven games.

But during a year when McFadden has been the recipient of so much hype, a case could be made that he is not even having the best season among the players in the Razorbacks’ backfield.

Felix Jones has been more impressive this year in the limited opportunities he has been given to shine. He is averaging 9.56 yards per carry and has scored on two kickoff returns. McFadden, meanwhile is picking up 5.51 yards per rush attempt. Both players are tied for rushing touchdowns with seven apiece.

It can be argued that Jones needs McFadden more than McFadden needs Jones. Nevertheless, it’s Jones who has emerged as the player most likely to score for Arkansas whenever he touches the ball.
