Johnson misses practice
Arkansas wide receiver Robert Johnson sat out of practice Wednesday and was wearing a protective boot on his right leg.
Razorbacks coach Houston Nutt said he sprained his ankle — an injury that occurred last week.
“I don’t think it’s anything,” Nutt said. “We’re going to try to get him ready for Saturday night. I think he’ll be OK. Hopefully he’ll be better tomorrow.”
Johnson, a 6-foot 2, 209-pound senior, equaled a career-high in receptions in Arkansas’ 66-7 victory over North Texas last Saturday. Against the Mean Green, he made four catches for 71 yards and scored his first touchdown as a receiver.
“It’s been a nagging, nagging injury,” Nutt said. “It started last week. It’s gotten worse and worse. He’s fought through a lot of pain. … It’s really more a precaution. I think he’ll be back.”
Nutt said that if Johnson isn’t available to practice tomorrow he would likely miss Arkansas’ game against Tennessee-Chattanooga this Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Sophomore Reggie Fish or redshirt freshman Carlton Salters would start in Johnson’s place.
