Decision, Decisions

Yahoo! Sports weighs in on Arkansas wide receiver Marcus Monk’s right knee injury he suffered during a preseason practice Aug. 9. Columnist John Murphy said he is among the top ten wide receivers expected to enter the 2008 NFL Draft.

However, Wally Hall of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette said Monk should skip this season and consider two options:

  • work hard in the in the months leading up to the draft to impress the NFL’s talent evaluators.
  • take a medical redshirt and play for the Razorbacks next year.

It’s an interesting dilemma Monk faces. However, there’s no chance, as Murphy suggests, that Monk plays against Tennessee-Chattanooga this Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

  1. Monk and his family will make the decision on whats best for him.Personally I dont think he should risk playing this yr.and ruining a chance for a great NFL career.Go for the gold Marcus.

  2. Monk certainly has a lot of factors to consider. His top priority should be getting as healthy as possible.

  3. Monk’s a great player. The smart play is to keep your options open. I doubt at the end of season Monk will be as highly rated as suggested - no fault of his own; it’s just that many other receivers have all year to catch passes and be noticed.

If he wants big up front $$$ he will have to have a BIG season on the field.
