Four Hogs named to preseason All-SEC basketball team

Arkansas is loaded with talent and the coaches around the Southeastern Conference agreed. Sophomore guard Patrick Beverley was named to the first team.
Seniors Steven Hill, Charles Thomas and Sonny Weems were selected to the second team. All three players were on the Razorbacks’ squad that finished 21-14 and was bounced in the first round of […]

Where have you gone Danny Ford?

You don’t hear too much about Danny Ford these days. He’s living the simple life on a farm near Clemson. But if you are wondering if he has expunged all memories of Arkansas, he hasn’t. The former coach who was known for his malapropisms (”scientific rocket”) actually provides some interesting observations about life in Fayetteville […]

Dick back at practice

Arkansas quarterback Casey Dick was back at practice Tuesday, three days after suffering a mild concussion and bruised ribs in the Razorbacks’ 58-10 victory over Florida International.
The 6-2, 215-pound junior left in the second quarter after he was hit hard by Florida International defensive back Ashlyn Parker. Backup quarterback Nathan Emert filled in and completed […]

Simply unbelievable

Rumors swirled last weekend that Arkansas sophomore tight end Ben Cleveland was denied admittance to the Razorbacks’ game against Florida International. And apparently they were all true, according to Arkansas Democrat-Gazette columnist Wally Hall.
Cleveland, who was diagnosed with nerve damage in his neck in the preseason, is still a member of the team. But Razorbacks […]

Is he or isn’t he?

No one seems to know where Arkansas running back Darren McFadden stands in the race for the Heisman Trophy. McFadden rushed for just 61 yards on 19 carries in the Hogs’ 58-10 massacre of Florida International last Saturday and really hasn’t had an outstanding performance since he rushed for 195 yards on 33 rush attempts […]

Kiper weighs in on Monk

Mel Kiper used to be like Punxsutawney Phil. He’d pop up at around the same time every year (April) for the NFL Draft and then disappear for another 12 months.
Things have changed recently and now Kiper is a part of ESPN’s college football coverage on both the broadcast and online sides. This week, Kiper weighed […]

ESPN2 to televise Arkansas-South Carolina; Lincoln Financial to air Arkansas-Tennessee

Decisions…decisions. Well, ESPN finally made one and the Boys in Bristol have decided that Arkansas’ meeting with South Carolina this Saturday at 7 p.m. is worthy of being shown on the Deuce. ESPN2 will broadcast the game live from Fayetteville.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Financial will air the Arkansas-Tennessee game Nov. 10. Kickoff is set for 11:30 in […]

So much for a quarterback controversy…

On Sunday, Arkansas coach Houston Nutt attempted to extinguish any notion that there would be a quarterback battle this week in practice after Casey Dick was injured Saturday during Arkansas’ 58-10 rout of Florida International.
Dick suffered a concussion and felt pain in his ribs after being blasted by Golden Panthers defensive back Ashlyn Parker in […]

Arkansas blasts FIU 58-10

Arkansas’ last nonconference opponent didn’t give the Razorbacks much of a test. The Hogs defeated FIU 58-10 on Saturday at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The Golden Panthers turned the ball over seven times, as Arkansas extended their losing streak to 20 games. Here are some notes:

Peyton Hillis won the Crip Hall Award, an honor extended to […]

McFadden makes it four

After Arkansas recovered a fumble at FIU’s 6-yard line, Darren McFadden scored on a two-yard touchdown run. It was McFadden’s fourth rushing touchdown of the day and his 11th of the season. The Razorbacks lead FIU 48-10 with 13:59 left in the fourth quarter.
