Bevo wins again
For decades, Arkansas fans have built up a seething hatred for Texas. The Longhorns, after all, have had a history of beating the Razorbacks in football. Texas leads the all-time series between the two teams, 55-21.
Now, Bevo has one-upped Arkansas again. The Razorbacks’ “Woo Pig Sooie!” chant would be the best battle cry in college football if Texas’ “Hook ‘em Horns!” didn’t exist, according to Eric Lacy of the Detroit News.

Mr. Lacy must have been bored Wednesday or had a lot of time on his hands. No other explanation suffices as to why he would throw together this random list. Now, his inbox is fixin’ to be flooded by a bunch of Texas haters because of his sudden burst of creativity.
Here is what he had to say:
“Hook ‘Em Horns!” — What’s not to like about the Texas Longhorns’ cool hand sign? With index finger and little finger extended, it resembles the shape of the head and horns of the mascot, and it can mean a variety of things. It’s considered a celebratory cheer, a greeting or goodbye between Texas fans, or even a random yell in appreciation of the school. The slogan and symbol was believed to be introduced by former head cheerleader Harley Clark in 1955 and clearly has withstood the test of time.
“Woo Pig Sooie!” — An enthusiastic cry for the Arkansas Razorbacks that screams SEC football. It’s yet another phrase that is customary within the state to recognize Hogs athletics or give fellow Arkansas natives a friendly greeting. These “hog calls,” according to the school’s athletics Web site, hogwired.com, “have been known to break out in airports, malls, restaurants and hotels all across the country.” The history of this rallying cry appears to be unclear.
