Tough loss

In no uncertain terms, this was a crushing loss for Arkansas, which No. 21 Kentucky defeated 42-29 on Saturday at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The Razorbacks’ inability to score points when they put together productive drives ultimately cost them. So did their defense, which has given up 36.3 points per game this season.

For the second consecutive week, Arkansas surrendered a lead late in the game. John Parker Wilson led Alabama on a 73-yard drive and threw the game-winning touchdown with eight seconds left during the Crimson Tide’s 41-38 victory over the Razorbacks on Sept. 15.

Tonight it was Andre Woodson who authored three scoring drives that totaled 172 yards in the final 11 minutes, 40 seconds. The Razorbacks never answered, as Kentucky reeled off 21 consecutive points to produce the final margin of victory. Now, Arkansas is in an 0-2 hole in the SEC Western Division. Things aren’t looking too good for the Razorbacks.

  1. i still think we did have some critical calls against us by the ref’s tonight once again. that took the momementum out of the game. it was almost like that ref jumped infront of dmac. whats up with that.

  2. Given the trials and heartbreak of the offseason and the 0-2 Conference start, anything short of the SEC West Champ will give our new AD a reason to bring n a NEW headcoach.

  3. Send the coach packing. Tell him to have his office cleaned out by 8am Monday morning. What a shame for the players to play as hard as they do and have a bone head coach that is too dumb to call good plays.

  4. Some things never change. Players lacking discipline (back to back offsides) and again with the late hit flags; always entertaining play calling; second week in a row that the third string tailback was in the game when ARK needed to wear down the clock. This is a very consistent football program - but that’s not praise. Where’s that new emphasis on a passing game? Last one - how bad are Nathan Emert and lil’ brother Dick if we have to stick with Casey? The truth is he just isn’t getting it done.

  5. oh - one more - do Heisman winners come from 7-5 teams? That Big D will run up yards against a weak middle schedule and that his team probably doesn’t make it to a Jan 1 or later bowl - really hurts his changes. Everyone KNOWs he’s the best offensive player in football - but that won’t get it done. What an absolute waste as he’ll leave after this year (as will Jones). Marcus is probably kickin’ himself for staying in Fayetteville.
    :-(

  6. move d mac to q back. he use to be one any way. couldnt hurt. as most girls will tellya your more than likely to get screwed by a dick.

  7. So unbelievably frustrating to watch them play…from a certain running back who just cannot hold on to the ball…to a quarterback who just cannot hit a receiver to save his life…to receivers who when the qb does throw a good pass, they just cannot catch it. Emert needs to play.

  8. It is a shame that such good talent is going to waste because of poor coaching. Players are undoubtedly lacking discipline in certain areas, and this fact is clearly shown by the number of yards given up per game. It is time for a new head coach. The new athletic director should take positive measures to add life to the football program.

  9. Well, it looks like HDN has lost the Dick/Mustain gamble. It’s sad to think that Hog fans need to root for losses for the greater good of our team. So sad for McFadden and his Heisman hopes. He needs to keep injury free and start cashing NFL checks.

  10. The hogs had the team last yr,(before Nutt ran half of them off) to win a national chambionship this yr.What a waste of talent on a good team.SOS different yr.Sure glad ol Lee revived our passing game. What a joke.Time for Nutt to go.

  11. How can anyone blame our defense for this loss? Our defense outscored our own offense 19-10 (2 point safety, 7 point fumble recovery, 3 point fieldgoal after defense gets turnover inside the Kentucky 30, 7 point kick return after the safety). How can any offense that features the two best running backs in the country score only 10 points while accumulating almost 500 yards of offense?

  12. Everybody knows that we can not pass or catch the ball. All they have to worry about is the run. Due to that, now we can not run. Pass defense is bad. I hope the new atheltic director will make some changes in the coaching staff, because they stink. We can not play with the big boys “SEC”.

  13. O,by the way, for the most part we have some great players.

  14. Nutt has overstayed his welcome. In 10 years, he has not had an effective passing game. After Dmac leaves, we are in for some really really tough seasons. The only remedy is a new coaching staff, save Rocker and Markuson.

Last night, our weaknesses were laid bare for all to see. Nutt just doesn’t have an offensive strategy or an ability to adjust.

  15. Its not so much that Nutt does not have ability to adjust, its that Herring can’t adjust. Reggie Herrings defense can’t stop anybody. If they could we would not be 0-2 in sec now. Also, it makes no sense at all to get on Casey Dick’s case. If he were at LSU or Kentucky or Alabama or USC or anywhere else that the recievers can catch, he would be a hero. Not to say he doesn’t throw an occational bad ball but 90% of them are catchable but our recievers can’t catch them. So even if you put Emert, or lil’ brother Dick in, if the recievers can’t catch ‘dick’ then it makes no difference.
