Apparently a lot of schools have taken a liking to the WildHog formation that Arkansas began running last year under former offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.
The package highlights the talents of Arkansas superstar tailback Darren McFadden, who takes the direct snap from center and then proceeds to run, pass or hand the ball off to one of his teammates.
This year, the Razorbacks have added the Racehorse formation that gives McFadden the freedom to execute the option. No word yet if other schools have added Arkansas’ latest concoction to their playbooks, as well.

Tulsa is looking good this year so far. I have watched two of their games and I guess Broyles was wrong about Gus’s offense not working. I am looking forward to the Oklahoma/Tulsa game on Friday, Sept. 21. Tulsa may not win this game but they are fun to watch.
Allentxhog….Are you serious???? This offense may be fun to watch in Conference USA but “fun” does not guarantee you wins over bigger programs. Oklahoma just 2 weeks ago dismantled the same style offense at North Texas and will destroy Tulsa as well. They may have a fun offense but do they have any kind of defense. Also, take a look at Texas Tech and their inability to consistantly beat bigger programs with this offense. And oh by the way, they have no defense either. Tulsa will get exposed by OU and I will love it. Broyles was not wrong and Gus’s style of play would never win in the SEC.
Dear AllenTxHog: I believe that you may have supplied the comeback as to why the “fun and gun” and “spread” offenses were not successful at Texas Tech and North Texas … their lack of a solid defense. For those who scoff at any offense that does not emphasize the running game as “unwinnable in the SEC”, I point out the success of Florida first under Steve Spurrier and now Urban Meyer.
The Big Ten has always emphasized the “3 yards and a cloud of dust” mentality, and it appears the game has passed them by. (Just look at Ohio State, Michigan, et al in the big games.) What teams need is a balanced offense to keep the defense guessing and a Defense that is at least good enough to stop the opponents from scoring. Otherwise, you end up in the Texas Tech 55-49 shootouts.
I think Tulsa plays Tulsa Union in two weeks. The line score on that game is Union by 7.5 points. Oh, they are playing at Unions stadium because it is much, much better.
Florida’s offense works because they are able to run the ball some what effectively, and Tebow is always a threat to tuck it and run for big yards. Meyers spread, much like West Virginias makes you plays heads up and not stack up to stop one paticular thing. Florida has the athletes to make it work. Do you think Tulsa can get the athletes to compete ? The answer is yes, in Conference USA that is.

USMC2074: I guess we agree that it takes althetes to compete at the high level of the SEC REGARDLESS of the offensive or defensive scheme employed.
