Fantastic Felix

The SEC office voted the fleet-footed Tulsa native Felix Jones its SEC Special Teams Player of the week after Jones returned three kickoffs for a total of 144 yards, including a 90-yarder for a touchdown.

Jones is ranked second in the nation among all purpose runners with 287 all-purpose yards and 17.84 yard-per-touch average.

He has three career kick-off returns for touchdowns, which is a UA record. The SEC record is four held by Tennessee’s Willie Gault.

Jones also had an electric night out of the backfield, rushing for 129 yards on 12 carries for a 10.75 yard-per-carry average. He also caught one pass for 14 yards.

“Felix just has that knack for making guys miss, particularly that first guy,” Arkansas head football coach Houston Nutt said. “He’ll give you a leg and then take it away.

“He’s able to get sideways, cut and then get back north better than any back I’ve seen in person since Barry Sanders when I was coaching at Oklahoma State. He’s got a special gift with that. It’s more quickness than speed. But he is fast, too.”
