The Bulldog defense ceded yards grudgingly in the first half, limiting Har-Ber to 6 rushing yards on 12 attempts. The Wildcats had 82 passing yards on 17 attempts.
Two of Har-Ber’s four first-half drives ended with turnovers on downs. A Justin Ternes’ interception ended a third possession. Har-Ber lost 6 yards on its opening series.

Blake McDonald felt no ill effects from the injured foot that forced him off the field for Fayetteville’s second series. McDonald engineered a 10-play, 81-yard scoring drive to increase the Bulldog lead to 14-0 with 6:02 left in the second quarter. A 16-yard touchdown pass on a fade route to Michael Bowman capped the drive.

James Bornhoft’s fourth-down sack of Har-Ber quarterback Patrick Calcagni ended a 16-play drive that advanced to the Fayetteville 4. Har-Ber appeared poised to score until Calcagni’s haphazard option pitch on third down. Har-Ber’s Andrew Vongvone recovered the fumble for a 6-yard loss.
