HARRISON — Jared Hall held Central Arkansas Christian to four hits in his pitching debut and the Rogers Mounties beat Central Arkansas Christian 8-4 in the opening round of the Ozarks Baseball Classic here Friday night.
Hall faced all but the final out of a six-inning, time-limited contest.
“ Jared was the star, ” Mounties coach Dr. Tom Woodruff said. “ He threw well. He threw like he’s been throwing in practice all along. We just haven’t had a chance to get him in a game like tonight. ”
Austin Reid and Seth White both hit two-run home runs; Reid’s was his fourth this season. Grant Wise went 3 for 4 with an RBI.
The Mounties collected 9 hits. Harrison Stanfill had a two-RBI single and Andy Couture an RBI single.
Rogers (6-4 ) advances to play at noon today against Friday’s late-game winner between Alma and West Plains, Mo.
Alma stormed back in the late innings to beat the Mounties 11-10 earlier this month at the Best Sports Invitational.
Mountie outfielder Scott Hatcher, who was hit hard by a pitch in the face Tuesday, made the trip but did not play. Woodruff said Hatcher has a broken bone in his face but has been cleared by a doctor to play with a special helmet.
“ In six weeks he’ll probably have to have surgery, ” Woodruff said. “ We’re probably going to get him in Saturday in a running situation. ” Cardinals 8, Blackhawks 1
FARMINGTON — Senior pitcher Wes Kahl pitched a complete game and struck out 12 with no walks to lead Farmington (12-1 ) to a nonconference baseball win against Pea Ridge (8-2 ) on Friday.
Kahl also homered for the Cardinals and Alan Noe added a two-run shot in the third to make the score 7-1.
Tony Morales drove in three runs for Farmington and went 2 for 3.
Randon Webb had an RBI single for the ’Hawks in the third inning. Pea Ridge will host a conference doubleheader against Elkins on Tuesday. Lady Mounties 2 Lady Falcons 1 (PK )
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Rogers soccer team outscored Springfield (Mo. ) Glendale 3-1 in a shootout to pull out a nonconference soccer win Friday night in Missouri.
Junior goalkpeeper Erin Miller had a strong game in net for the Lady Mounties (10-2-0 ) while Alyvia Rogers, Kristin Harp and Megan Dougherty all found the back of the net in the shootout.
Rogers also had the team’s lone goal in regulation, which held up for a lead most of the way until Glendale scored late to force penalty kicks.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville (Ala. ) Grissom outscored Rogers 5-4 on penalty kicks to improve to 16-0 this season with a shootout win against the Mounties on the first day of the Southern Soccer Challenge.
Daniel Saldana scored in regulation for the Mounties. They play again today at 10 a. m. against Greenville (S. C. ) Wade Hampton.
