ROGERS — All-State senior Perla Quintana of Rogers signed a letter of intent Wednesday to continue her volleyball career at Missouri State University-West Plains, a top junior college program.

Quintana, a libero, played an important role in two of Rogers’ most accomplished teams. The Lady Mounties made their first appearance in the state championship match her junior year and returned to the semifinals last season.

Rogers lost in five games to Fayetteville at Cabot High School to finish the year 24-9-1.

“ Her leadership has been second to none, ” Rogers coach Jeana Breedlove says.

Quintana, who was honored with the top defensive award at the AAO Top 25 Camp last year, led the Lady Mounties in passing percentage (. 850 ) and digs (467 ) during her senior season on the way to earning All-State honors in Class 7 A.

She was given team awards for outstanding passer and outstanding defense.

Quintana will compete in the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game this summer at Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville.

MSU-West Plains has been nationally ranked for more than a decade and has qualified for the national tournament nine consecutive years, finishing runner-up twice (2002, 2003 ).
