BENTONVILLE - At their next meeting, members of the Republican Women of Bentonville will consider a proposal for a state lottery by Arkansas' lieutenant governor.

The meeting will be at 6: 30 p.m. Thursday at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St. The meeting will be held in the library's Wal-Mart Community Room, club member Olga Berg said.

"The (club's guest ) speaker will be Michael Cook, chief of staff in the (Arkansas ) lieutenant governor's office. He will speak on the lottery issue," Berg said.

Monday was the deadline to submit signatures of registered voters required to get the measure on the ballot. A spokesman for Halter said earlier this week that the group expected to meet that hurdle, with signatures of more than the required 77, 468 registered Arkansas voters, Berg said.

The meeting is open to the public, she said.
