ROGERS - Tom J. Hobbs of Bentonville said he's looking forward to more fundraising activities after the success of Operation United We Stand.

Featuring a significant number of activities and exhibitions, Operation United We Stand - a fundraiser for deployed service members - was held over the weekend at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3031 in Rogers. The fundraiser featured a showand-shine for antique cars and classic motorcycles, as well as activities for kids and families.

It was the second annual event for Arkansas, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Arkansas Army National Guard to purchase calling cards for soldiers.

"We had everything from classic cars to the fastest fire truck in the world," Hobbs said.

The truck holds the Guinness World Record as the fastest, being documented at 407 mph and equipped with two Rolls Royce Viper fire-jet engines, Hobbs said.

In addition, the show included a treasure hunt, a rock-climbing wall, and the Arkansas-Missouri Railroad train for passengers to ride from Rogers to Springdale.

More than 50 awards were handed out during the event, including a 6-foot-tall Best in Show trophy.

Hobbs is looking forward to additional fundraising activities and is thankful for the assistance of a number of event sponsors and staff.

"I could not ask for any better staff than I had. I felt the Lord was on their side," he said.
