Locals appointed to military academies, prep schools

BENTONVILLE - Some 11 students from one of 12 northwest Arkansas counties, including six students from Benton County, have received appointments to the nation's military academies or a scholarship to an academy prep school.
All 11 were congratulated this past weekend by U. S. Rep. John Boozman, R-Ark., who served as host for a socalled Academy Picnic in Bentonville.
To the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.:
• Evan Abrect of Farmington, who attended Farmington High School, and is the son of Derric and Marcey Abrect.
• Calvin Johnson of Bella Vista, who attended Gravette High School, and is the son of Calvin and Lori Johnson of Bella Vista.
• Andrew Loyd of Van Buren, who attended Van Buren High School, and is the son of David and Susie Loyd.
• Jennifer Parker of Rogers, who attended Northwest Arkansas Community College and is the daughter of Richard and Marianne Parker.
To the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
• Jordan Roach of Siloam Springs, who was home schooled at Christian Home Educators of Siloam Springs, and is the son of John and Dawn Roach.
• Nicholas DeLuca of Bentonville, who attended Bentonville High School, and is the son of Joseph and Laura DeLuca.
To the U. S. Military Academy in West Point, N. Y.:
• Pfc. Daniel J. Balow of Alma, who is the son of Rick and Paula Walke.
• Eric Jones of Springdale, who attended the U. S. Military Prep School in Fort Monmouth, N. J., and is the son of Darwyn and Lori Jones.
To the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.:
• Gina Caylor of Fayetteville, who attended Fayetteville High School, and is the daughter of Gary and Donna Caylor.
To the United States Military Academy Prep School in Fort Monmouth, N. J.:
• Robert Pennington of Rogers, who attended Rogers High School, and is the stepson of Roger Clement and the son of Roxanne Clement.
• Nathan Hughes of Bentonville, a scholarship recipient who attended Bentonville High School, and is the son of Paul and Debbie Hughes
