Art contest winner from Benton County

BENTON COUNTY — Ethan Robinson, a Siloam Springs High School senior, won first place in the Artistic Discovery High School Art Contest, U. S. Rep. John Boozman, R-Ark., announced Wednesday.

Robinson’s winning entry was a pen-and-ink / mixedmedia drawing titled “ Mug Shot. ”

The annual congressional art competition brings together the best student artwork from across the nation. The winning entry will be hung, along with entries from other congressional districts, in a corridor of the U. S. Capitol.

The winner will be eligible to compete for a $ 5, 000 scholarship per year to the Savannah College of Art and Design.

AT & T Arkansas and Southwest Airlines, sponsors of the contest, will provide spending money and round-trip airfare for Robinson and his parents to attend the opening of the exhibit in Washington, D. C., on June 25, with other winners from across the country, Boozman said in a Wednesday press release.

Danny Looney, a junior at Har-Ber High School in Springdale, won second place with a pen-and-ink drawing titled “ Oh Brother. ”

Sarah Jordan, a senior at Siloam Springs High School, won third place with an acrylic painting titled “ Intrinsic Good. ”
