Zoe Ann Haynes Celebration Ministries series starts April 13
Posted on Sunday, March 30, 2008
BENTONVILLE - To honor her strong faith and Christian devotion, a memorial fund was started for Zoe Ann Haynes. Although she died of cancer in 2006, her mission to enrich the life of the church lives on through the Celebration Ministries series.
Her husband, Bob Haynes, said he's looking forward to the first series. A committee, made up of several people who knew Zoe Ann well, determined that the best way to memorialize her spirit of love would be through inviting speakers to inspire and motivate people.
"It features Dr. John C. Holbert, a renowned storyteller from Southern Methodist University in Dallas," Haynes explained. "I've heard him before, and he's a marvelous speaker.
"Both our daughters will be here for the first series. Dr. Holbert's topics are about family. I think it will be a great way to begin the series."
"The First Family and Its Figs"is the title of the Sunday, April 13, topic. It will be presented at 9 a.m. in the Old High Middle School and again at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville. At 7 p.m. the same day, Holbert's topic will be "The Dysfunctional Family and the Surprise of Grace."
A community luncheon on April 14 is scheduled from 11: 45 a.m. to 12: 10 p.m. in Hines Hall at the First United Methodist Church. From 12: 15 p.m. to 12: 45 p. m., Holbert's address "An Unusual Family and the Power of Devotion"will be presented in the church sanctuary. A community luncheon, from 12: 50 p.m. until 1: 30 p. m., is also scheduled following the series.
At 7 p.m. Monday, Holbert will conclude with the topic "A Squabbling Family and the Love of Jesus," in the church sanctuary. Childcare will be provided for all worship celebrations. The luncheon and / or childcare reservations deadline is April 11. Reservations may be made by calling (479 ) 273-2712 or by e-mailing charlene @ fumcbentonville. org. The First United Methodist Church is at 201 N. W. Second St. in Bentonville.
"This is the first of what will be wonderful messages for the whole community to learn from and appreciate," Haynes said. "Many people have contributed to ensure that Zoe Ann's love of other people and her enthusiasm for the church will continue. We plan for the Celebration Ministries series to go on for a long, long time."
