ROGERS — The MOMS (Mothers offering Moms Support ) Club of Rogers is holding a program called Bags for Babes.

The purpose of the project is to collect backpacks, duffle bags and suitcases to be donated to children in foster care.

MOMS Clubs were started in 1983 by Mary James, a stay-at-home mom in California. She decided to meet other at-home moms and their children so the mothers could visit and their children could play together.

Because she couldn’t find an organization that allowed her to bring her baby and preschooler, she started MOMS Club.

There are now more than 2, 000 chapters of the club in the United States with more than 100, 000 members. There are also international chapters starting, too.

The Rogers club will collect backpacks, duffle bags and suitcases to be donated to foster children because they often have no way to move their belongings.

The public may drop off the donated bags from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. April 26 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 4208 Pleasant Crossing Blvd.
