PEA RIDGE - "Bee Movie "will be shown in Spanish at the Blackhawk Theatre here on Saturday.

"Several people have asked me about showing a movie in Spanish," said Jeff Cato, owner of the theater. "I hire quite a bit of Hispanic labor and they always ask."

Cato said he hires people both in his construction jobs and to work at the theater.

"I hire quite a bit … (of ) ongoing work - in the theater, construction work, carpet installers. … I run across people of all nationalities," he said. "I checked around and nobody is doing it," he said of other theaters in the area showing films in Spanish. "Being an independent theater, you can do what you want.

"Pea Ridge and Bentonville are the two fastest-growing Hispanic populations in the nation.

"' Bee Movie' is an animated movie by the producers of'Shrek, '"Cato said. He will show the Spanish-language version of the G-rated movie at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Although he said he does not have employees who are bilingual, he said he had two years of Spanish in school and "speaks quite a bit."

"I believe we'll be able to communicate," he said.
