GRAVETTE — State Sen. Kim Hendren, R-Gravette, said Friday he will try again in the 2007 state legislative session to reform the state’s statutory foreclosure procedures. Reform is needed since foreclosure situations are apparently becoming more common, he said.

Hendren tried to get changes in notification procedures passed, but unexpected opposition derailed the proposed changes in 2005.

It’s time to look at the issue again, Hendren said Friday. “ We kept trying (in 2005 ) to work out a compromise that would satisfy the lending industry as well as the borrowers. And we never did get it done. I think we will... need to take another look at that... in this next session, especially in light of the increase in that type thing, and perhaps even more so, ” Hendren said.

He hoped to reach a broad consensus on what reforms are needed, the state senator said.

In Little Rock, he and some other legislators soon will be looking at the question of what a citizen must do to comply with local, state and federal laws and regulations, Hendren said.
