Letter to the Editor

The Benton County Daily Record invites and encourages letters from its readers.

All letters must be signed with the author's complete name. Letters must also include an address and telephone number for verification purposes.

Letters must not contain libelous or slanderous statements or profanity. The editor reserves the right to edit or condense letters as required by space limitations. Also, the editor reserves the right to reject any letter deemed unworthy of publication or for any other reason. Letters longer than 300 words will be edited or returned at the editor's discretion.

Letters pertaining to a political race or ballot issue will be accepted at the editor's discretion. Such letters must break new ground, respond to a newsworthy issue, or make a substantive contribution to the debate. Form letters or rote endorsements will be rejected. No letters pertaining to a ballot issue will be published during a 48-hour period prior to an election. The identity of letter authors may be withheld by The Benton County Daily Record's editorial board if the board determines that publication of the letter endangers the author.

Letters should be legible, preferably typewritten and double-spaced.

In addition to using the form below, you can mail letters to The Benton County Daily Record, P.O. Box 929, Bentonville, AR 72712 or e-mail them to The Daily Record at newsroom@nwanews.com.
