State Public Service Commission Chairman Paul Suskie has returned from his stint in Iraq as a judge advocate general in the National Guard.
Suskie is at Camp Shelby in Mississippi and should be released from active duty within the next week, said Dave Slaton, chief of the commissioners’ staff at the commission.
Suskie has been gone since January. In the meantime, former Supreme Court Justice David Newbern has filled in as an interim commissioner, and Commissioner Colette Honorable has been chairman.
Slaton said Suskie will resume his seat as chairman on Aug. 1.
Suskie, 36, of North Little Rock was appointed chairman last year by Gov. Mike Beebe.
He is a former North Little Rock city attorney and was an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for attorney general in 2006.
